Mr Ravi Uppal, managing director of Volvo India Pvt Ltd, says that the company is looking at modest volumes of about 25-40 trucks in a month. The company has a modest production capacity of 4000 vehicles in two shifts per annum. The company, which is a 100 percent subsidiary of Volvo of Germany, has already invested about Rs300 crore in its Bangalore plant. It recently launched its second product in India - a new truck called FL7. (khr)

Volvo India Pvt Ltd is a 100 percent subsidiary of Volvo Truck Corporation. It has completed its Rs300 crore truck building complex in 12 months. It has rolled out its first truck-trailer from its complex at Hoskote, near Bangalore on June 15, 1998, after 18 months of signing the memorandum of understanding. It will put up its construction equipment business also at the same speed. (rk)

VOLVO TO LAUNCH SECOND TRUCK MODEL FL7 IN FEB
Article Abstract:
Volvo India plans to launch Volvo FL7, its second truck model, in February 1999. FL7 is a seven-litre tractor-trailer for loads of 15-30 tonnes. It is priced Rs19.8 lakh, inclusive of all taxes. The truck is aimed at refrigeration, sea container and bulk tank for oil and gas purposes. The truck will give a mileage of 3 km per litre. (rk)(psr)
